Embedded Chaplains
Chaplaincy
One of the most important ways UM FCA serves student-athletes is through embedded chaplains who are intentionally connected to specific athletic teams.
Rather than waiting for athletes to come to an FCA event, our chaplains build relationships within the everyday rhythm of college athletics. They walk alongside athletes and coaches through the pressures of competition, injuries, transitions, relationships, questions of identity, and the highs and lows that come with competing at an elite level.
Our chaplains are there to listen, encourage, pray, teach Scripture, and help athletes take meaningful next steps in their relationship with Jesus. Over time, consistent presence creates trust and opens opportunities for deeper discipleship.
At Miami, FCA currently has ministry presence connected with football, women’s volleyball, and track & field, while continuing to build relationships across the athletic department.
The goal is bigger than simply providing spiritual support. We want to develop athletes and coaches who become disciple-makers themselves—people who live out their faith, influence their teammates, and help others know and follow Jesus.
Present with the team. Trusted in the relationship. Intentional about discipleship.
